Revitalizing distressed urban neighborhoods is considered a task too formidable for either public or private entities to undertake alone.

Rather, partnerships must be formed in which multiple parties pool their creative energies, assume the responsibilities in their areas of interest, share risks, and learn to succeed by working together.

This approach defines the South Providence Development Corporation's philosophy to community economic development. Of the projects undertaken over the past five years on the southside of Providence, all have involved multiple, diverse partners - both public and private.
